Everyone faces challenges in life. Sometimes these barriers to success are physical, like chronic pain or illness. Sometimes they are emotional, the lingering effects of a past traumatic experience. Cynthia wants to see you—no matter your cultural background—overcome these barriers and achieve whatever goals you have your heart set on.

A native Spanish speaker, Cynthia provides culturally-humble treatment to clients across their lifespan—from childhood (12 and up) to older adults and families. Her more than a decade of social work experience in various healthcare and educational settings has made her an expert on different counseling techniques.

Cynthia uses Cognitive Processing Therapy to treat clients suffering from Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for chronic pain. She also uses Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy to treat various behavioral health needs, as well as CBT for Insomnia and Nightmares. In addition to chronic pain, PTSD, and insomnia, Cynthia specializes in crisis intervention, depression, anxiety, trauma, and adolescent and women’s issues.

Cynthia offers a safe, warm, and encouraging space for clients to receive care. She works with each individual to develop a plan that meets their specific needs. Your goals  become her mission. She wants clients to overcome obstacles so they can be happier and more confident in their lives.

An assistant professor of practice at the Steve Hicks School of Social Work, Cynthia received her master’s of social work and bachelors of psychology and sociology from The University of Texas at Austin. She is passionate about her work and believes in the importance of cultural connection, education, and storytelling through the arts.

Your challenges do not have to define you. You can overcome and be stronger than ever before. We are here for you. Start your journey today.
